The Oasis of Ein Guedi is seen at the shores of the Dead Sea, southern Israel. The inland sea which separates between Israel and Jordan is retreating by about a meter a year as the two countries divert almost 90% of the Jordan River waters that for thousands of years fed the mineral-rich sea. Potash and other mineral factories in both countries say they are only responsible for not more than one fifth of the water's disappearance. Photo by Quique Kierszenbaum
